Lies of P Azure Dragon Crescent Glaive Notes & Tips

  • Unlike the Guard Parry fable art present on other weapons, this weapon's Deflect Counterattack functions differently:
    • The timing window of Deflect Counterattack seems to be the same as a normal parry. Using Deflect Counterattack also grants you dodge iframes with a small backstep, so if you miss the parry, you can still end up avoiding damage.
    • Unlike Guard Parry, you don't keep your fable slot if you miss the parry. Instead, with Deflect Counterattack you keep the fable slot ONLY if you manage to deflect an attack properly.
    • After deflecting an attack, you can press RB for a light follow-up, and RT for a heavy follow-up. Using the heavy follow-up will expend a fable slot, but the light follow-up will not. The heavy follow-up seems to do significant posture damage, though.
    • Correctly-timed deflects can allow you to deal damage a boss while it's in the process of making its combos, while also gaining you fable. Note that neither follow-up attack has any poise: if you're hit during either of them, you will be interrupted. Deflect counterattack is an easy way to bolster your damage if you deflect the last attack of a boss's combo, however.
  • This weapon is part of colaboration event with team behind Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. In game by Team Ninja it is a glaive-type weapon that goes under the same name.

Can anyone confirm that the deflect is the same amount of frames as a perfect parry? (4 startup, 6 active on 60fps)

After doing 2 playthroughs with this weapon, it might be the best in the whole game. All because that fable into R2 when combined with the Conquering Amulet hits like an absolute train while also staggering enemies very easily. Fable into R1 is good also as it does the damage of a fully charged R2 but with the speed of an R1. Great for sneaking in hits between combos. The handle fable deals a lot of damage and has good hyperarmor.

        • Can easily carry you through the whole NG run and even NG++++. Just make perfect parries in time. Much easier than Double Dragons katana flashy parry occurrence.

Just finished a fresh tech run, used this for most of the game after Venigni Works. Exceptionally fun to use and really powerful. On par with Puppet Ripper, Seven Coils, or some of the better non-boss weapon combos. The reach on this is insane, the moveset takes some getting used to, but is a fantastic mix-up of multiple other weapons in the game. Don't sleep on the dodge light attack, a quick poke with a good range that can stunlock most trash mobs while keeping you out of their range.

Unlike other fable art parries, the timing on this seems to be exactly the same as a normal parry, and you expend the fable slot only if you mess it up. You keep the slot if you manage to perfect parry. Then, after you parry through the fable art, the slot is expended only if you do the heavy follow-up, but you keep it if you do the light follow-up. If you master this parry, you can weave attacks during boss combos while having a net fable gain. It's absolutely ridiculous. The follow-ups don't have any poise though, so don't get too crazy.

As a double dragon sword, requires perfect parry timing skill. Otherwise, just a decent weapon with a stylish moveset. Great at the start of the game, but useless in mid and end-game until you learn how to perfect parry.
