When was Lies of P Announced?

Lies of P, a new action Souls-like inspired game was officially announced with a trailer back in May 2021. It highlighted a cinematic trailer featuring Mr. Geppetto, the creator of the famous puppet, Pinocchio, as well as a sneak peek of the new style of the now puppet mechanoid, Pinocchio. Lies of P Game Developer and Publisher NEOWIZ Games, alongside Game Developer Round8 Studio, highlighted a unique feature called the "Lie" System where what players do and choose to say as Pinocchio will dynamically affect various points of gameplay.

And in August 2021, Lies of P officially launched their Twitter account and celebrated it with fans of the game by hosting a Welcoming Event — it was in the same month where Lies of P rolled out its official page, https://liesofp.com.

Lies of P is scheduled to release sometime in 2023 as confirmed by the game's developer, but the official release date is still to be determined.

Lies of P Director Confirms Sequel, First-Ever DLC Teaser, and New Patch

Lies of P is one of the newly released Souls-like games that received adoration and a warm welcome from the community. A new announcement was delivered by the director of Lies of P himself, Ji Won Choi where he talked about the plans for the Lies of P DLC, developing a sequel after the success of their game, and sharing their heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the community's support in their special video Director's Letter.

The director of Lies of P confirmed that a new sequel is being developed and their team is working hard on exploring the many aspects of this new project. Their priority is to work on the upcoming patch this November (the exact dates are still being discussed as of posting) where balances are expected especially in the Weapon Assembly System, and additional wearables that will grant players wider control on choosing their Costumes.

The upcoming patch this November is expected to provide significant changes to some Handles and Blades, as well as QoL (quality-of-life) changes that will help level out the difficulty during the early stages of the game. NEOWIZ provided an excellent example of listening to their players and has made a change to the P-Organ Node: Rising Dodge as a default skill, making it available immediately, without having to unlock it. Additionally, 2 pieces of Quartz will now be available for purchase upon unlocking Polendina's Shop. There are also images released showing two new locations that will be featured in Lies of P's first-ever DLC. There is no additional information regarding the DLC but we can expect that this will be as great as the game's release.

Fans of the game have been asking for Alidoro's Outfit, and in response, NEOWIZ will be giving all players Alidoro's Set including the Mask as a token of their gratitude. As part of this, an upcoming patch will be rolled out that will allow players to wear Hats and Glasses separately, giving players the freedom to customize their characters even further. This means having an additional slot for wearables in the game and also means more wearables- Venigni Hat (Alchemist's Hat) and an all-new pair of glasses (The Great Venigni's Glasses) will be given to players for free.

The director shared that several other elements are also being discussed and being prepared for this upcoming Patch. They are also planning to release Patch Notes before the patch is rolled out and full details will be available soon. The Lies of P Patch release date is still being worked on but is expected to be rolled out this month in November. As for the DLC, we are expecting that there will be a minimum of 2 new locations given the screenshots shown in the video.

NEOWIZ also received praise and compliments on the music choices for the game. The game features a Record collection in-game that allows players to collect tracks throughout that they can play while in the lobby of Hotel Krat. Nearly all of these records are in the process of being released and the collection will have a total of more than 60 tracks. Once again, the director asks for patience as they work on this collection's release.


Lies of P Reaches 1 Million Copies Sold

About two weeks ago, NEOWIZ announced that their game, Lies of P was able to break through the record of selling 1 Million copies. This marks an incredible achievement after the game was released just over a month ago across available platforms. Lies of P features gameplay comparable to the Soulsborne experience as they adventure through Krat and see the world through the lens provided by P. In Lies of P, players are also presented with choices that would help P to become human while they explore an elegant world filled with tension, a deep combat system, and a gripping story.


Lies of P's First DLC Release Window Confirmed by Neowiz

Neowiz recently announced the forthcoming release window for the first DLC of Lies of P in its financial report. Lies of P was first released in September 2023 after nearly five years of development, and it exceeded expectations within and beyond the gaming industry. It was initially made more as a playable concept than a market-ready project by a novice team, its debut on Game Pass propelled it to become one of the top RPGs of the year.

The financial report indicates that Round8 Studio is currently working on this DLC intending to release it in the second half of 2024. While this offers insight into when it might be revealed, the exact release date remains uncertain. Lies of P was first showcased during Gamescom 2022, presented during the Xbox conference. This situation leaves us with two possibilities: either Korean developers may unveil new content during this summer's event, or Xbox might spotlight one of its major "Day One" releases on Game Pass in June. Regardless, all we can do is wait and remain in anticipation of its further developments.

The story of Lies of P takes place in a city called Krat and players begin their adventure as Pinocchio awakens in an abandoned train station of the city that is bewildered with madness and bloodlust. As Pinocchio arises, he finds a single note that reads: "Find Mr. Gepetto. He's here in the city.".

The Story & Setting for Lies of P

Lies of P is set in the late 19th Century to the early 20th Century of the Belle Époque Era in Europe within a city called Krat. The city of Krat was once a beautiful place but has now become lost and turned into a living hell that is filled with unspeakable horrors due to a deadly plague. Krat is featured as a grim city where multiple automatons now roam almost every part of the center, from the streets, rooftops, alleyways, and within buildings. As you start your adventure in Lies of P, you play as the puppet mechanoid Pinocchio who awakens in an abandoned train station not knowing where he has come from and what his purpose is. As we all know the famous fable of Pinocchio, Mr. Geppetto carved a wooden puppet named Pinocchio and was visited by the Blue Fairy who granted Mr. Geppetto's wish by transforming the puppet into a living being, that being said, Pinocchio sets forth into reaching his goal of becoming a real boy.

Lies of P is inspired by its original story but it is now being told in a dark and gritty way that will leave an unforgettable experience. In Lies of P, Pinocchio does not know who Mr. Geppetto is but one thing he knows as he reads the note that was left for him is that he must find Mr. Geppetto, and throughout his journey, he will learn about his identity, his capabilities, his purpose, and ultimately reach his goal of becoming a real human being, but it is up to you on how you will guide Pinocchio. Will you be true to yourself and show the people of Krat Pinocchio's true nature or will you lie and do whatever it takes for Pinocchio's dreams to come true?

Lies of P is loosely based on the original fable of Pinocchio, and in the game, we will see a reimagination of gritty and authentic versions of characters whom we know of, as well as the addition of some new cast. Mr. Geppetto is heavily featured in promotional images and trailers, as well as what seems to be the Blue Fairy and a reenvisioning of the animated film's antagonist, J. Worthington Foulfellow also known as Honest John, will he be the main antagonist of the game or will he be the Patches for Lies of PPinocchio will also have to deal with a group who seems to know about his true nature and is looking forward to being able to capture the mechanoid puppet and brand him as the "Liar".

Lies of P revolves around Pinocchio's adventure but as you explore the city of Krat, you will encounter various NPCs whom you can choose to interact with and help. This is where the unique Lie System comes into place, your actions and your choice of answers during conversations will heavily affect the player's gameplay and ultimately affect the ending of the game. Will you lie or will you tell the truth? — the choice is entirely yours to make.


Unique Combat and Gameplay Mechanics in Lies of P

Humanity Points & Lie System

Lies of P is inspired by the familiar story of Pinocchio, a wooden puppet given life by the Blue Fairy, and Pinocchio who learns that he must not tell lies or he will suffer the consequence of his nose growing in length as he continues to lie. Since Lies of P is a reenvisioning of Pinocchio's story, it's no surprise that the game will feature a Lie System that will play an important role throughout your overall gameplay.

It is still yet to confirm how exactly the Lie System will work in Lies of P, however, developers NEOWIZ has given some insight that the player's actions and choice of answers in dialogues will contribute to the Lie System. A good example is when you are given a choice to answer in a conversation. As showcased in a gameplay video, it shows Pinocchio approaching a hotel entrance and is asked "Who are you?". Pinocchio is then given a timed choice to answer truthfully or simply lie.

By choosing to lie, Pinocchio gains Humanity Points which rack up and affect the outcome of Pinocchio's story, thus, having multiple endings in the game. Apart from that, your choice of telling the truth or lying will simply change Pinocchio's interaction with NPCs, the type of enemies he will encounter, and what seems to be even more that will affect the player's gameplay experience.

Fully-Customizable Weapons

Lies of P features a weapon-making system for Pinocchio's main weapon which allows full customization similar to Pinocchio's nature of being a customizable mechanoid puppet. In Lies of P, Pinocchio wields a weapon that is divided into two components, the Blade and the Handle. As you explore the city of Krat, players will discover various Weapons which can then be dismantled and combined with other blades or handles. So how do Weapons exactly work in Lies of P? You will find different weapons, by default, which are already combined as a singular instrument. For example, the Last Honor, a heavy sword that features its designated Blade and Handle — and this can be dismantled and you can swap out its blade or handle to combine it with another handle or blade.

By doing so, there will be endless combinations for changing the weapon's name, weapon stats, attack behavior, and Fable Arts (Weapon Skills). Not only that, but you can also upgrade each blade or handle to fully max out its statistical values. It also has the basic feature we come to know of in other Souls-like games where you will need to resharpen a weapon to replenish its effectiveness when attacking enemies.

Further information is still to be determined if players will be able to find individual Blades or Handles across the city of Krat. However, as showcased in the Gamescom 2022 Demo, players can only enhance and combine weapon parts via Stargazers (checkpoints, similar to Sites of Grace in Elden Ring), and on the other hand, players can switch weapons for Pinocchio to equip via the Character Options Menu on the fly.

Each weapon in Lies of P will also include its Fable Art. Fable Arts in Lies of P are similar to the Ashes of War in Elden Ring, a weapon that you find will have a unique weapon skill that is bound to that weapon. Fable Arts consists of unique moves or skills one when Pinocchio draws out his weapon or when upon guarding. The use of Fable Arts requires a certain number of Fable Slots which is the equivalent of an MP bar.

Pinocchio's Gear and Frame

Gear and Frame in Lies of P are the designated Armor pieces and primary Accessories equipped by Pinocchio. Since Pinocchio is a mechanoid puppet, you will be able to equip different pieces of armor for his Gear and primary accessories for his Frame. Each item will improve Pinocchio's stats and applies effects when equipped. As we know so far, the Gear and Frame will be divided into three sections. For example, Pinnochio's Frame will have three slots, Lining Parts, Frame Parts, and Joint Parts.

This feature even adds more to the customization aspect of the game, build how you think your version of Pinocchio will be based on your playstyle! Equipping Frame and Gear parts are easy since players can swap them out on the fly by simply going to the Equipment screen via the Menu. But apart from Pinnochio's Gear and Frame, he will also have a Belt and a Pouch where he can equip various secondary accessories and items. This feature allows Pinocchio to swap items quickly, as long as it is equipped on his Belt and Pouch.


Legion Arms in Lies of P

One of the unique weapons used by Pinocchio in Lies of P is his left prosthetic arm called Legion Arms. Legion Arms in Lies of P might remind you of Sekiro's Prosthetic Arm and Tools in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, but Pinocchio's prosthetic arm delivers a simplistic yet impactful tool when it comes to combat. According to NEOWIZ and as stated in a tweet on their official Twitter account (@Liesofp), the game will feature over 5 Legion Arms which feature different combat mechanics and effects when used. Players will need to explore various areas within Krat to find secrets, open vaults, and even defeat certain Bosses to acquire a new Legion Arm.

From executing a powerful strike — to charging and releasing a short-range electric shock that briefly stuns enemies, a flamethrower arm that allows Pinocchio to burn enemies that are caught within the flame, transforming Pinocchio's left arm into a mini cannon that shoots out an explosive cannon shell that burrows into the enemy and eventually explodes, as well as a Legion Arm that allows Pinocchio to shoot out a wire (just like Scorpion from Mortal Kombat), providing Pinocchio the ability to pull enemies towards him or fly towards the enemy.

The Legion Arm is surely a unique weapon for Pinocchio to use in combat and gives the character justice for being a customizable mechanoid puppet. It is important to note that each Legion Arm can be upgraded by using a material called Quenching Stones, and by doing so, upgrading a Legion Arm will unlock more effects, increased stats, and additional abilities. And of course, equipping a certain Legion Arm will temporarily modify Pinocchio's stats such as improving his attributes and adding more weight to his frame.

P-Organ in Lies of P

The P-Organ in Lies of P is an upgrade feature that enhances additional stats and grants various effects for Pinocchio. The P-Organ is essentially a passive tree that provides various effects and abilities to Pinocchio. Players can choose what they want to unlock for Pinocchio on the fly but you'll need to have enough Quartz (an upgrade material) to apply the ability for each category. Each category will have at least 2 designated pockets where you can use Quarts to apply that effect or ability.

There are various categories for each level such as Strengthening the Pulse CellExpanding Fable Slots, adding a Thorn Shield, granting a Quick Recovery for Pinocchio if he is knocked down, and many more. By selecting a category, you will be shown various effects and abilities that fall under Offensive, Defense, Utility, and even Operation or movement, and each one compromises two different passive effects. And as a reminder, players can only equip one Quartz in one Pocket. This means you cannot use two Quartz in the Offensive group, you must choose another — with this game feature, there are multiple builds that players can create to fit their preferred playstyle.

Lies of P Costumes: Garments for Pinocchio

Apart from fully customizing Pinnochio's combat equipment such as his unique Weapons, Legion Arms, Gear Parts, and Frame Accessories, players can also change Pinocchio's garments. Costumes in Lies of P do not provide any change or upgrade to Pinocchio's stats, it only changes his physical appearance, specifically, the clothes he is wearing.

From donning the classic blue ensemble to an all-white regalia that can be covered in blood and oil from the enemies you've killed, Lies of P will feature an array of Costumes that adds more flair and personality to how you envision Pinocchio based on your preference — we won't be surprised if we see an exclusive, free, secret, or modded Costume based on the famous Disney animated film of Pinocchio.

Is there Online Co-op for Lies of P?

Unfortunately, the game will only focus on Single Player mode and the story will follow Pinocchio's adventure. According to the director of the game Choi Ji-Won, during an interview at Gamescom 2022, he states: 

"Since it is our first Souls-like game, we didn't consider adding a Multiplayer or Online Co-op feature since we didn't want to take away the joy and experience of the player to challenge themselves in Lies of P. However, if given the chance and if the opportunity comes knocking on our door, we will consider adding a multiplayer or online co-op feature.".


Collab Announced: Lies of P x Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Publishers Neowiz and Koei Tecmo forwarded a piece of surprising news Pertaining to their latest titles, Lies of P and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Both parties will work together to treat their fans with an unusual and exciting collaboration. On that note, no further details have been discussed on both ends but it is indeed clear as day that it will materialize in the near future. A lot of exciting speculations are now surfacing but let us share what's ours. We can expect great things from Neowiz and Koei Tecmo. One thing to note is Lies of P and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty bathes in the same genre which is the Soulslike Genre. A popular and yet forgiving genre that is widely known in the gaming space. With this nature, both titles have a lot of common grounds to work on thus we can expect great surprises and treats. It is likely that the following modes or items in the game will be implemented in both titles:

Lore or Iconic Bosses - It is a no-brainer for both developers to exchange bosses with one another and let players fight and experience it in both titles. We can't wait to see how it is going to be implemented since Lies of P and Wo Long does have different architecture and combat styles.

New Weapons - Wo Long players may take advantage of new weapons from Lies of P such as Pinocchio's Saber and more. Vice versa. It is a nice treat to be able to use new weapons from a certain collaboration. Knowing it is material from a completely different world.

Exclusive Game Modes - On both titles, players will be allowed to explore a dedicated space for the collab. These levels or modes were usually compact in size. It will provide hours of gameplay but it will not be too long. But enough to deliver an enjoyable experience. It is possible that multiple bosses are waiting for players as they progress and we can't wait to see how it will turn out.

What is Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty?

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a role-playing game set in the tumultuous Three Kingdoms Era of ancient China. Developed collaboratively by renowned industry veterans Team Ninja, known for their successful Nioh and Ninja Gaiden series, and Koei Tecmo, the creators of the beloved Dynasty Warriors franchise, this game presents an alternate, fictional version of the Later Han Dynasty period, where players assume the role of an anonymous militia soldier fighting for survival. At its core, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty delivers an immensely challenging Soulslike gaming experience, drawing inspiration from the likes of Dark Souls by FromSoftware and, more specifically, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Played from a third-person perspective, the game features fast-paced and punishing melee combat that demands skill, strategic thinking, and mastery of diverse gameplay mechanics. Players must learn enemy behavior patterns and devise effective countermeasures to succeed.


Lies of P and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Collaboration

The highly anticipated collaboration between Lies of P and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty dropped on the 14th of February, 2024. The new Patch Notes Patch gave players the Armor of the Honorable outfit, the Bandana of the Honorable accessory, and the Azure Dragon Crescent Glaive special weapon, along with other bug fixes and improvements to the game. By updating the game to Patch, players can head over to the game and click on the 'Claim Benefits' option. Players will be able to see their items in their respective tabs such as the Costumes tab and the Weapons tabs. While in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, two weapons from Lies of P have been added there for players to use in the complete edition of Wo Long that also comes with the newly added DLC.

Lies of P 2023 Demo Overview

The Lies of P 2023 Demo was announced during the Summer Games Fest showcase that was aired on June 8, 2023. This new demo consists of various content that players can enjoy to get the feel of the combat mechanics, key features, and visual representation for Lies of P. The 2023 demo consists of three boss encounters, some locations that players can explore within the city of Krat, an introduction to some of the key characters of the game, as well as gameplay mechanics such as weapon assembly, Legion Arm loadouts, Costumes, a variety of items, and many more. The 2023 demo version of Lies of P contains two chapters that are divided into three segments: an introduction to the game while traveling to Hotel Krat, finding Gepetto, and returning to him after defeating the final boss featured in this demo. Depending on the player or your overall experience with Soulslike games, this demo can take several hours to play or complete.

Lies of P 2023 Demo Features

The Lies of P Demo that was presented at Gamescom 2022 features the following aspects of the game:

  • Weapon Assembly: Lies of P features a unique crafting mechanic where players can create unique weapons by mixing and matching different Blades and Handles. The demo features a generous amount of weapon parts for you to try merging into a new weapon that consists of unique attributes, styles, and combat mechanics. Your experimentation begins after you find Geppetto and P can do this via a Stargazer or by speaking to Eugénie in Hotel Krat.
  • Fable Arts: These are Weapon Skills similar to Elden Ring's Ashes of War, they are unique and each weapon consists of two Fable Arts, one for the blade, and one for the handle. By using a Fable Art, P can trigger moves for attacking or buff himself with temporary bonuses that benefit the tides in battle. Each Fable Art requires between one and three Fable Slots to use, which are indicated by the segmented blue bars directly under the health bar.
  • Legion Arms: The Lies of P 2023 Demo features three Legion Arms, each serving its unique purposes. You will have a selection of Legion Arms that focuses on physical damage, utility, or elemental attacks. You can change P's Legion Arm with the use of a Stargazer or by interacting with the Venigni Craft Machine in Hotel Krat.
  • Exploring Krat: The 2023 demo for Lies of P contains multiple locations within the city of Krat. You'll explore the train station, the streets of Krat, the hotel, Elysion Boulevard, and the central hall. Each has its unique theme with different enemies and layouts, this demo just offers a glimpse of what can be explored in the world of Lies of P.
  • Upgrading P: Just like any Soulslike game, the Lies of P 2023 Demo allows the players to upgrade the attributes of P in exchange for a certain amount of Ergo. The higher the attributes increase, the greater Ergo is required. Players have complete freedom of what attribute to improve first, depending on what they need. Initially, before reaching Hotel Krat, P can use a Stargazer to level up before meeting and speaking to Sophia in Hotel Krat.
  • Secrets within Krat: Apart from following the path of the main objective, there are a few secrets and even a side quest that lies within the city of Krat. Do not ignore these as they can help with P's journey and most importantly to make him stronger. These minor detours are essential since they can provide the player with lore information about the background and story of the game. Make sure to explore the city and find them during your time in the demo.


General Tips for Lies of P 2023 Demo

Try out different Weapon Combinations in Lies of P

As you begin the demo, you'll be given the chance to select your starting Archetype which consists of a starting weapon and preloaded attributes that fit each combat style. However, as you progress, you'll be able to find other weapons that have different handles and blades and you can mix and match them to suit what's best for you. The feature of assembling weapons becomes available after you meet Geppetto.

Practice makes Perfect

Lies of P is without a doubt a game that contains similar mechanics to a Soulslike game, this could be easy as a walk in the park for veterans who play games such as Bloodborne or Elden Ring and for players who are curious and are new to a Souls-genre game, it will be a challenge. However, Lies of P is still a new game that features its own unique mechanics and all players are still required to take their time to learn the different logistics of the game. During your time in the demo, make sure to spend your Ergo to upgrade P's attributes before you fight a boss and practice your combat moves such as perfect blocking and familiarizing movement and attacks inside Hotel Krat's courtyard against target dummies.

It's Okay to Die in Lies of P

Whether you are new or not to a Soulslike experience, it's simply okay to die during your journey. If you die while you are exploring, just remember the spot where you died and do not get killed in the process of recovering your Ergo. And if you are defeated during a boss battle, it's okay! You can simply recover your Ergo outside their lairs.

How to use Stargazers and Read the Guide when Needed

Stargazers are your checkpoints in Lies of P, you can use this to gain access to different mechanics such as Fast Travel, Weapon Assembly, Storage Access, swapping Legion Arms, and it is also a respawn spot for when you die. Using a Stargazer refills P's Pulse Cells and Legion but it also respawns normal enemies around the area. Be mindful that a Stargazer glows red and it cannot be used when an enemy is around it. And most importantly, if you need to read the different combat and general guides of the game, you can access the settings of the game and look for Guide.


Lies of P 2023 Demo Combat Memories

Combat Memories in Lies of P are premade archetypes or classes for Pinocchio. By choosing a combat memory, Pinocchio will have a preset of items and stats, and each combat memory caters to a different type of playstyle. However, as players progress through the story and level up, they are free to choose how to build their version of Pinocchio based on the player's playstyle, and this includes upgrading the various stats and equipment.

      Mostly enjoying it so far for what it is (in Area 5), but comments that it's as good as Bloodborne are just not accurate. I'm finding the levels themselves to be oddly short and almost tediously easy, while the bosses are a mixed bag -- some easy, some unpredictable. I don't know if everything is herky-jerky because it's an artistic choice due to them being puppets, or if they just couldn't get smooth animations in place, but it makes combat boring. Going for parries -- which I do in all the From games -- becomes unpredictable, and therefore risky in a way that doesn't feel controllable. Therefore you're pushed into safe strategies that don't encourage a high skill ceiling. This is despite the broader game mechanics obviously pushing you to aim for perfect parries -- a core element of good game design is that if your game is going to offer large incentives to players to engage in a mechanic, that mechanic needs to be super polished. Otherwise the frustration mounts up as the game tells you to do something that you know the game isn't really adequately handling.

      I also really wish they'd had some more localization -- even though the 'default' language is English it doesn't feel like it. I know it's a small team, but with over 1,000,000 sold now, maybe they can have another pass at it. None of the characters feel real, voice acting is very disjointed -- not the fault of the actors, the script is just wild. (Although some of the actors sound... uh.. stereotypical.) "I arranged everything in here according to the rules, so don't touch." Is this saying there's some esoteric set of rules for how Eugenie is supposed to arrange a puppet weapon workshop? Or is it just an awkward translation of something like "don't touch my stuff, there's a method to the madness"? It makes it hard to know what is supposed to be aiming for esoteric From-style lore, and what's just bad English. Speaking of which, they're really stretching too far with trying to do the lore/story like From games. It works in From games because there actually are deeper underlying themes at play. This, however, is mostly just a story of out-of-control puppets.

        With all the delayed windups followed by lightning fast attacks, they really missed the point of what made sekiro's parry system so satisfying. REACTING TO CLEAR TELEGRAPHING. Not every attack needs to be designed to purposely throw off the players' timing or roll catch you. I finished the game without much parrying because it's an unnecessary risk when I can just have iframes from dodging. Combat and boss design could have been much more refined if the game had been designed solely around parry OR dodge, not both. Its like a jack of all trades, master of none

          The game is excellent. Sure, its not perfect, no game is. But despite some issues its still a really fun game with an interesting world to explore. Anyone who hasnt played it yet is missing out imo

            Generally, I liked the game but I won't finish it. The first half I thought it was a lot of fun, fair, balanced and challenging.
            The 2nd half of the game is hard for the sake of it and has questionable design choices that quickly turn fun into a chore. For example, the Corrupt Parade Master should have a merchant or a summons to balance it. I almost gave up at that boss fight. I persevered but gave up at the Gate Keeper. Having a boss which is a 2 minute run through a desert from the star gazer just sapped my will to continue. Getting to the boss was more tedious than the fight itself, I gave up at that point.

            I love a challenging game, but it has to be a fun challenge not a tedious chore.

              Too many crybabies want a game to fit their needs. Just learn the unique game for what it is or don't bother playing. It's so simple, so just stop b****ing about it and get good or uninstall.

                Just finished the game, even did the extra boss at the end and to be honest. This whole experience was awful. Each level feels like a short roundabout in the same little area with enemies that have a janky moveset that's hard to perfect block which the game shoves at you at every turn. The story is fine ish, but feels a bit like they tried to pull on your heartstrings at the end without giving enough reason as to why you should feel something. The assembly feature felt a bit redundant since the blades themselves were just stat sticks and the moveset itself was in the handle, so you pick your preferred moveset and just pick any stat stick you like to go along with it. The damage stats themselves felt like they were all the same since you could just use handle scaling altering tools to pick your preferred stat and there are no requirements on blade nor handle for wielding them and there's no magic, so just pick a favorite. The game itself in every way, at every turn, at any moment, was just designed to punish you, you avoided an attack by moving or dodging to the side? Too bad, lots of enemies have a special attack designed just to push you into perfect guarding as a reward. See a treasure in a perilous area pretty far off? Another dim ergo, every time. Think you're safe in a high up area? Think again since you're about to get pushed off for the nth time. Then there's the bosses.. nearly all of them have a 2nd phase with weird attackpatterns or just hypercombos out their rear end that the game of course very much want you to perfect guard and there are even 2 gank fights where you fight several opponents at once, fun! The game also locks important features in a skilltree for rare materials and keeps you out of mandatory skills for a long time which makes the experience even more sour since they thought adaptability from dark souls 2 seemed like a great idea and as far as i can tell, there's no re-spec for that particular aspect, so if you choose the wrong thing, you're out of luck. The game also has no poise which makes any heavy weapon less viable or combat fun in general since most things can and will stunlock you, but the amount of stagger a heavy weapon causes compared to anything else is so little in difference you're better off sticking to fast weapons only. Was the game fun? No, not in its current state with these ridiculous balancing issues, the only thing that kept me going was how much it legitimately irritated me and what i spent on it and i don't feel like i got better at games in general, just the specific jankiness and abuse that this game throws at you. In a score of 1-10, this game was a thorn in the side out of 10.

                  Every stage just feels like clusters of the same 3 or 4 types of enemies that can be mindlessly R1-spammed through. Occasional bits of platforming or slightly non-linear pathways so you have to actually pay slightly more attention than none at all. A few cheap ambushes and gotchas that get repeated almost verbatim until they basically become a joke. And then you get to the boss who always seems to have the same moveset as all the others: swing,swing, big flailing spastic combo, charge, big telegraphed wombo combo, repeat. If you told me this game was entirely AI generated I wouldn't doubt it for a second. Even the visual style looks like AI artwork.

                    I think I have had it. {INSERT BOSS NAME} is far too difficult and it's breaking my enjoyment of the game. This {BOSS OR GAME} isn't well designed and I no longer want to continue. {INSERT BOSS NAME}'s {NAME ATTACK} is completely unparriable. The game's parry window is too small and they have to patch it.

                    And before you all say git gud, let me tell you. I am a souls veteran. I've completed all the souls games and didn't have any trouble with {INSERT THE ONE YOU THINK IS HARDEST}. I actually beat {INSERT BOSS NAME, PROBABLY ORPHAN OF KOS} on my first try. But that's because From soft are experts at creating a polished game experience.

                    So anyway I'm out for a few months until they patch the game. Goodbye !

                      I've never played a game where enemies have such a janky and unpredictable moveset. Pair it with imitation of parrying and dodging from Sekiro and Bloodborne and you get a recipe for a disaster.

                          Game's gonna need a lot of fixing if it intends to be an enjoyable experience. It focuses on timed blocks with enemies that have oddly dissonant timing in their attacks and often long combo-strings or attacks that they hold for a long time before bothering to properly hit you, but the worst part is you have no poise. No poise means your heavy attacks, charged heavy attacks, fable attacks, running heavy attacks, will be staggered by even the lightest poke from any enemy in the game and you can be stunlocked by trashmobs. With this going on, slow weapons end up being a self-inflicted extra hard mode.

                            Me and many other people were hoping this would be the Bloodborne 2 we never got, but early reviews say the combat is more like Sekiro, and I HATED Sekiro. Well, from what I experienced in the demo I should be able to play it like a Souls game if I want to.
