Arlecchino is an NPC in Lies of P. An individual known as the "King of all Riddles", answer him correctly and you might be handsomely rewarded for it. NPCs are non-playable characters that players encounter and can interact with throughout the course of the game. NPCs play an essential role since they often provide helpful information, resources, and services to help the player throughout their journey.

Arlecchino is The King of Riddles who will challenge you by calling through telephone booths. If you answer his riddles correctly, he will reward you with Trinity Keys, or a hint that will lead you to the location of a key. These keys will give access to green doors with the Trinity mark which can give you various rewards including costumes, and equipment upgrades. This section of the guide will highlight all the locations where you can find the Telephone booths, all Arlecchino riddle answers, and all Trinity Key Locations in Lies of P.
As you explore the streets near the Workshop Union Entrance, a public telephone will ring. From the other end of the call, a man named Arlecchino will introduce himself as the King of Riddles. He begins: "By morning, it walks on feet numbering four. At mid-day just two, no less and no more. It walks on three feet when the evening arrives. And if you solve this then I'll know you're alive."
You'll get an option to answer between "Human" and "Monster". If you choose to answer with monster, he will tell you that it is the incorrect answer but he'll give you another chance by giving you a new riddle should you answer his call next time. However, he will still give you a Trinity Key.
As you explore Malum District, you will find an empty tall building with a ladder inside. Use that ladder to reach the telephone and answer the call from Arlecchino. He begins: "I stand tall and proud when I'm young and bold. But I'm short and humble once I've gotten old. What am I?"
The correct answer to this is a candle, and choosing the correct answer will reward you with a Trinity Key.
[Note: This phone will not ring unless you have used both Trinity Keys from the previous two riddles.]
You will receive another call from Arlecchino, a caller who claims to be the King of Riddles. His next riddle for you to solve goes like this: "What cannot be used before it breaks?" The correct answer to this riddle is Egg. If you answer this correctly, he will reward you with a "King of Riddles Hint." At the Grand Exhibition, you now must behold, all ten fingertips of the woman of cold! Look close, before she escapes your notice.
Continue exploring The Grand Exhibition Gallery by walking towards your left after answering the phone. Take two flights of stairs down to reach the ground floor where you can see 'The Grand Exhibition' sign with two stone sculptures on each side. You need to interact with one of the sculptures so that all their fingertips are facing the center. Then, the secret compartment in the middle will reveal the third Trinity Key.
As you explore the street outside The Abandoned Apartments, you will hear a telephone ring. The same caller from before, named Arlecchino will give you another riddle. He will warn you that if your answer is wrong, you'll not love it. The riddle goes like this: "This blue flower has many ways to take root. But only on one man does it ever bear fruit."
The correct answer to this riddle is Ergo. Then, he will reward you with a Trinity Key. Answering correctly here will contribute to P's human-like qualities and will cause him to feel warmth.
The King of Riddles is changing his ways, and instead of Arlecchino giving you riddles to solve, he will now ask you a question. He tells you that the next one is a black and white, a no or yes. The question is: "Is Geppetto's creation a killer? CONFESS!"
Either answer will reward you with The Chosen One's Trinity Key.

There is a total of 4 Trinity Keys and 1 The Chosen One's Trinity Key that you will be receiving from Arlecchino, The King of Riddles. Every time you answer him correctly, he will reward you with a Trinity Key or a hint that will lead to a key, which will open Trinity Sanctums scattered across Krat, and give access to safes that contain valuable items for your journey in Lies of P. In this section of the guide, you will find all the locations where you can use the Trinity Key and how to access the Trinity Doors in Lies of P.
Trinity Door in Workshop Union
- Rewards: Quartz and Blue Blood's Tailcoat
From the Workshop Union Culvert Stargazer, look for the ladder nearby that will take you to the upper level of the culvert. Then, you should find a tunnel to your left with a rolling boulder of flames. This ball comes rolling every few seconds or so, and you need to time your movements to cross safely. To do this safely, wait for the ball to crash then run to the next corner. Make a right to the first safe section of the rolling ball's path, but be careful, because an enemy is waiting to attack you here. Go through the door behind the enemy and this will lead you to find the Red Fox and Black Cat leaning on the pillars of the metal lift who will wish you luck as you explore further.
Continue your path beyond the lift and then make a left where you will see a door with a flashing red light. There are 3 dismembered puppets here so eliminate them first before you proceed through the red pipes. At the end of the big red pipes, you will find more enemies waiting to fight you and you need to defeat them first. Once you have cleared the area, make a left to reach the green door with a Trinity mark. Use the Trinity Key to gain access to the Trinity Sanctum at the Workshop Union.
Trinity Door in St. Frangelico's Cathedral
- Rewards: Black Cat's Amulet and Monster Sweeper's Hunting Apparel
From the Stargazer inside St. Frangelico's Cathedral Chapel, go behind the altar on the left side and you will find ruins that can reach the depths of the Cathedral. Use the stairs that will lead you below and follow the path to the right. Use the first ladder that you see that will lead you further down the ruins. Then, walk to the left side and use the stairs to your right. You will see a makeshift lift here that will take you up the ceiling and to the rafters. When you see the body on the floor next to the barrels, you will get off on the next floor.
Take the path to your left, then use the ladder to reach the other side of the wheel, then you will jump down on the floor below you. Once again, use the ladder to reach the floor below you. Then follow the path in front of you where you will find a slope where an electrified boulder is rolling down. You will need to wait for the boulder to roll past your character then run up the slope. Then once you reach the top, look for the ladder and use it. This will take you to another slope with an electrified boulder rolling down on it. Wait again for the boulder to roll past your character, then go to the tunnel on top, and you will reach the green door with a trinity mark. Use the Trinity Key to gain access to the Trinity Sanctum beneath St. Frangelico's Cathedral.
Trinity Door in Estella Opera House
- Rewards: Quartz and Belford Superior Radiation Converter
As you explore the Estella Opera House you will come across the golden statue of Adelina the Actress. While facing the statue, head down the path to the left where you will see a locked gate, but you will be using the stairs to the left to reach the upper level. Then, this will take you to the room where there's a massive hole at the center with a swinging chandelier. Drop down to the ground and you will see the green door with the Trinity mark. Use the Trinity Key to gain access to the Trinity Sanctum in Estella Opera House.
Trinity Door at Krat Central Station Lobby
- Rewards: Workshop Master's Workwear and Carrier's Amulet +1
This Trinity Sanctutm is easily accessed from the Krat Central Station Lobby Stargazer. Go behind the statue that says 'Krat Grand Exhibition 18xx'. Walk up the stairs, then head to the left that will reveal a path going downstairs pictured above. You will find the green door with a Trinity mark at the bottom of the stairs. Use the Trinity Key to gain access to the Trinity Sanctum at Krat Central Station Lobby.
Trinity Door at Arche Abbey Outer Wall
- Rewards: Alchemist's Cape and Quartz
Explore the ruins of the Arche Abbey Outer Wall until you come across an elite enemy. You will find this enemy as soon as you see this beam pictured above, you actually can't cross using this thin piece of wood, but walking over it will make you drop right on top of this enemy's arena. As you fight them, you will probably see the green door with a Trinity mark on it. If you didn't see it right away, scale the walls at the bottom level and it should be easy to see as there is a lit torch next to the door. Use The Chosen One's Trinity Key to open this door and this will give you access to the Trinity Sanctum at Arche Abbey Outer Wall and will lead to your face-to-face meeting with the King of Riddles, Arlecchino himself, or what remains of him.
He calls this place the Sanctum of Riddles, and he will ask you another question instead of his usual riddle. "Now listen closely and heed the King's speech. Or the answer to this one will stay out of reach! Are you a puppet? or a human being? Which one are you?" If you choose to answer Human, he will agree with enthusiasm that you finally understand. He goes on to say that indeed, you are both humans trapped within Ergo. Then, he tells you that it was fun while it lasted, and he, The King of Riddles will now retire.
On the other hand, if you choose to tell him that you're a puppet, he will express his disappointment toward your choice, but he will still give you the same rewards.

I watched the anime Pluto recently and there is this roboter, pinned to the wall the exact same way. Its name is Brau1589 and it is the first robot that killed a human (thought impossible)

If you for some reason miss one of these phones and kill a boss or two after it, it seems to completely brick the order.
As an example, I missed the one at Malum and killed KOP before I realized. When I went back for it, I got the grand exhibition riddle. And the exhibition phone was dead.
Just now he gave me the Malum riddle at the Relic of Trismegustus. Checked the exhibition again and got the final riddle. This quest is ****ing weird. At least it works.
Why can't I talk to ARLECCHINO? When I got to him, he was dead, what happened?

I tried sparing him and making it to the end.... nothing... you dont get new dialogue, infact you cant talk to him at all. You can still bonk him and get the ergo prize worth 10k. Seems like killing is just about some ergo. The usual events with Lorenzini and Talking to Pulcinella, completing his story and getting humanity... were unchanged by his condition. Might as well do it, he cant move and is stuck there miserable forever. Like that other commenter says, he gave you the key, he prob wants it.
Absolutely brilliant voice actor for Arlecchino! I actively looked forward to the next riddle just to hear this dude ramble. Loved his story with Veningi, in a tragic but compelling way, and the twist at the end reminded me why I loved these types of questlines. The conversation you have with him about humanity was great, and Arlecchino saying he considers Veningi his masterpiece was chilling. Also, when you get the toy from Arlecchino's real body, it's actually a "A Trip to the Moon"(1902) reference, although that wouldn't be the only one lol. Just the most obvious if you are familiar with the movie, but if you haven't I would recommend looking into it, its great for a silent film! Absolutely loved Arlecchino's character, but in the end he's a deranged killer. Entertaining, but deranged, so I put him down. I'm just loving this game.

So what happens if you choose Human for the first riddle mentioned above?! Whoever wrote this did a horrible job in leaving out what happens if you give the correct answer or even if you should. Because it gives the impression that if you reveal you’re human you cannot get the rest of the keys… And what’s the answer to the new riddle he gives if you answer with Monster?! I get you get a key but no mention of the second chance riddle is a bit absurd.

There is more here, a chance to kill this dude late game. Well, I might as well share my XP since its not here yet.
After you meet his true body, you can learn of his actions and then you can choose to end him or not after you hear what he has to say. I chose to end him, I got a good ergo prize for it, a 10k item. Then I could report to Venigni for some dialogue, then later, his butler for more lore and another ergo item. I did not gain any humanity or records for choosing to kill. There was an achievement, the story of the prince and Venigni. The character never mentions that Arrlechino was killed, just shows a remembrance item that he gives the character, no need to kill for that item. Im not sure if killing brought a better ending, just more ergo. Will have to try sparing him next ng+ to confirm if somthing is changed.

This section is massively incomplete.
You can meet him in person on alchemist isle with the last key.
Learning about how he "batmaned" one if the main characters, and possible even attacking him to try and get revenge.

That spear in his chest IS Noah's, right? Just without the cog-shield attatchment? How in Krat's name did a blind stalker make it all the way to the Isle of Alchemists, up the tower and into the trinity sanctum?

When i found killed him, I didn't kill him because of his horrible deeds or out of anger but as a mercy kill, he clearly is in a lot of pain and no matter how evil he was he was trapped in a room with no way to communicate with anyone but through the phones. Arlecchino was as human as P. No I'm not saying he should be saved, what im saying is he wants you to kill him, why else would he give you a key to the room he's trapped in, he never asked to be freed or saved instead i see the entirety of that conversation to be his final confession before we finish him.

I could feel my finger ******ing on the attack button, hoping and *hoping* that it'd let me just carve him up but no good. Congrats guys, you made me want to shank The Riddler without even feeling an iota of remorse or caring about any rewards.
If you find out what he did, it's obviously a batman reference between him/vegnini and his riddler voice. Def. The best VA in the game too

The voice actor for Arlecchino is incredibly good, I mean REALLY good. This game's got a lot of great acting talent in it but this guy was on an entirely different level.
I answered both riddles up until the gallery and when I picked up the phone in the gallery, he asked me the question from Krat Station with Ergo as answer and I've got the key without turning the statues. But I have only answered the phone after I've killed the area boss, maybe this changes things?

whatever phone you pick up does not correspond with what message he will say. i didn't find the phone in the workshop but when i found the malum one, he told me the riddle where the answer was human.

Saying No on the last call gave me a box, opening it exploded but still gave me the chosen key.

If you answer Puppet he gives you the cape and Quartz. His dialogue is disappointment towards your choice.
Pro tip: Based on my findings and repeated NG+ playthroughs, I found that his riddles are directly tied to Venigni. You HAVE to talk to Vegnini everytime you get new dialogue with him in the hotel to get Arlecchino's riddles to activate or else the telephones where they normally happen at go static and won't work.
