The Atoned (NPC) is an NPC in Lies of P. The Atoned is a respectful NPC who becomes hostile if you decide to try and reach the Cathedral. NPCs are non-playable characters that players encounter and can interact with throughout the course of the game. NPCs play an essential role since they often provide helpful information, resources, and services to help the player throughout their journey.
If you equip and use the Stalker's Promise gesture by the train entrance of the Pilgrim's Cable Railway, she will let you pass.
If you have unlocked the Stalker's Promise, you can also simply talk to her. You will then have the choice to perform the gesture (lie) or admit you're not a stalker (truth).
Either way, performing the gesture will make her give you the Cable Railway Key and prevent her from becoming hostile.

Where to Find The Atoned (NPC) in Lies of P
- The Atoned can be found outside the train entrance near the Moonlight Town Stargazer.
- When you're on your way to the cathedral, you won't initiate the fight against her if you Lie by greeting her with the Stalker's Promise gesture. However, returning here later on after you beat Fallen Archbishop Andreus, she'll automatically become hostile, and the fight will start.

There is a non-zero chance that The Atoned's name is Melamfo if the Jeweled Cryptic Vessel is any indication. It mentions someone directing people to the Cathedral if Krat Station isnt safe and she (the guide) has an inkling of faith ("That's in God's hands."), possibly before she realizes she's been sending people to become carcasses and becomes The Atoned. Not to mention, this Vessel leads to Atoned's outfit.

Came here to report a glitch. Somehow, depsite beating the survivor, I was forced to fight the boss. I was not given an option to offer the greeting. I made sure I beat every boss and enemy once before proceeding. So I definitely beat the survivor, i had his outfit. So hopefully this doesn't ruin my run
I found that after fighting Champion Victor that she will become hostile to you even if you lied to her. I do not know if killing Victor is precisely the trigger, but I do know that if you go back to her, she will be outraged that you lied to her and attack.

She attacked me after I defeated the Chatedral boss. I returned back to see if there were any new dialogues after the bossfight, but she said the usual line. After I stepped away a bit the fight triggered. I do not know if is a bug or intended (the first time I met her I lied about being a pursuer and got the railway key without hostility).

In the hopes this helps someone else find the Survivor miniboss before you talk to her cuz the gesture will make things easier. She does not deaggro if you use the gesture after you fight her

You don't have to kill her. If you use the Stalker's Promise gesture, she'll let you go up without a fight.
I believe I lied to her and she let me through. I have come back after beating the came, she will still not aggro me. Even if I try to attack her.
