Test Subject 826 is an NPC in Lies of P. Test Subject 826 is a human who was experimented on with Ergo, he is a special NPC whom players can interact with to purchase items. NPCs are non-playable characters that players encounter and can interact with throughout the course of the game. NPCs play an important role since they often provide helpful information, resources, and services that will help the player throughout their journey.
I'm not going back. I'm sick on consuming Ergo.
Where to Find Test Subject 826 in Lies of P
- You'll first meet Test Subject 826 when you head towards the Arche Abbey Outer Wall Stargazer in the Arch Abbey Area or Area 11. After you reach the Trinity Door at the bottom of the area, go through the corridor from where the brawler mutant was. Take the elevator down to meet him. Open the door at the end of the corridor so that he escapes after defeating Laxasia The Complete.
- After you defeat Laxasia the Complete, this NPC moves to Rosa Isabelle Street, he is on the bridge that overlooks the area where you fought the mad clown puppet. The icon for him is on the Rosa Isabelle Street entrance Stargazer, but it is quicker to go from the Rosa Isabelle Street Culvert Stargazer. Head through the opened shortcut to the left of the Stargazer, and continue up the path with stairs until you find him. If you are going the right way then there will be three maid puppets, one rifle puppet and one exploding jester puppet as you traverse the route.

If you kill Laxasia before finding him in Arche Abbey you can still go down and talk to him and trigger the quest.

Ok, but why is his picture one of the alchemist gunners? The gunners aint got that test subject level of style and rizz.

He talks about reading the back of a maid puppet in Rosa Isabelle Street. Is this some sort of hint? Is it Cecile?
Per previous comments, Subject 826 refers to a maid puppet leaving a love letter. This is, in fact, reference to the puppet in the black dress, which we find for Julian the Gentleman's quest.
Assuming you're on the bridge with Subject 826, continue down the bridge to his left, go around the corner to the left and down the stairs, go around the next corner to the right, and you'll find the maid puppet in the black dress with a note written on the wall, saying, "I love you, Julian".
