Lies of P Greatsword of Fate Weapon Parts Lore

Greatsword of Fate Blade

A greatsword blade made by refashioning a soldier puppet's weapon. Even when used as a bayonet, its unique bend keeps it from interfering with firing.

Stalkers who have survived life-or-death situations can see the threads of prey. These threads are the sticky spiderwebs of obsession that they say are clearer the stronger the puppet is.

Greatsword of Fate Handle

A standard greatsword handle made by the Workshop. It is sturdy since it was made with the Krat Workshop's special techniques.

The Workshop gathered monster sweepers to face the unprecedented crisis. They lived up to their reputation, eating up monsters and becoming monsters in their own right.

my first +10 weapon, so reliable. R1>R2>R1>R2 is a poking combo, and R2>R1>R2>R1 is a slash combo, soooooo versatile

Really good poking moveset, really good fable arts, great block absorption. Decent damage, but it becomes a bit weak during the endgame. The charge attack could be either a bit faster or have more reach. Absolute defense is extremely helpful if you have a hard time vs red fury attacks

Absolute defense is really useful against red fury attacks. The move set is pretty nice too. Damage is nothing crazy, but it’s good enough

I played through my entire first blind playthrough and about 50% of NG+ with this weapon and after some time with it, I can almost safely say that this is unironically the Lies of P Claymore, but tending towards Strength (Motivity in this game) instead of quality. It felt like whoever was on the Round 8 weapon design team was part of the group of DS1 Claymore fanboys, and really wanted to put an homage of that weapon into this game, but with the Lie of P twist.

Great damage, good reach, good guard (underrated stat) and a versatile moveset that's great for mobs and bosses alike. Only time I felt like the weapon felt slightly underwhelming was when fighting some elites, specifically the hyper aggressive ones that won't stop attacking and spaz out all over the place, but at no point did it feel it couldn't get the job done.

The main learning curve to grasp is that this weapon's moveset wants you to alternate between R1 and R2s; and depending on whether you started your chain with a slash or a thrust will dictate if you keep slashing or keep thrusting. For example in DS1 if you wanted to do 4 slashes followed by 4 thrusts you'd hit 4 R1s and 4 R2s just in that order. But in Lies of P you'd have to do: R2 - R1 - R2 - R1 --> R1 - R2 - R1 - R2. So at any point in your attack chain if you wanted to transition from a slash to thrust or vice versa you'd simply hit the same attack button twice in a row.

This basic principle applies to the charge attacks too, so you do have access to a charged R2 stab as well as charged R2 slash (which is more like an x shaped uppercut) depending on the situation. The running r1 and rolling r1 does follow this alternate attack chain principle, but the running r2 does not.

So all in all if you like the claymore, and gravitate towards simple, reliable and versatile weapons that can see you through the end of the game without gimmicks and just honest straightforward weaponplay, spend some time with this weapon and give it a shot.
