But his thing made me change my mind the second I tested it.
This is probably my favorite weapon of any game, insane dps, good recovery for perfect block, good running attacks and did I talk about crits? (the sound omg)
Sure it has a low reach but that's also what makes it so memorable, it's not perfect, but it might be perfect for you!

I was doing a full Motivity build, but after wasting 2 hours in Laxasia I decided to respec, so I got 40 Techinique and upgraded this beast to +10 with Technique Crank. Simply changed the rest of the playthrough for me, managed to beat Simon on my first try. Too bad I didn't use this the entire game, makes everything so much easier, especially if you combine the Crit Grindstone with the Crit amulet.

I have no idea what other people think of this weapon and, right now, I'm too tired to read. But this, on a dex build, is a goddamn MONSTER. It doesn't do much damage, it hits fast, but it has crit. It has a crit enhancement built in. Even with just the crit fable boost, it crits often. When it crits, it hits pretty hard. Combine that with the crit grindstone you get, and the crit amulet? Holy shhit, this thing does double damage nearly every hit. That's horrific. I think the only other weapon I used the rest of my run was the... that one boss spear with 30% crit. But this knife just crit way too often and was SO light and fast that it was hard not to use.

If you want a challenge, putting a short slashing head like the Fire Axe or Chef's Knife on this handle gives you maybe the worst weapon combos in the game. Awful range, bad blocks, low base damage that's reduced by the slash/stab incompatibility.
If you don't want a challenge, putting the dagger head on the City Longspear shaft gives you a weapon that attacks as fast as a dagger with the range of a spear and the damage of a greatsword while Grind is active.

I know the handle's moveset is stabs only, but I feel like the blade should have slash proficiency as well.
The shape of the blade would be better for slashing than stabbing anyway.

This handle plus the electric coil head got me through puppet master phase 1.
The handle is very nice at proc'ing effects and at proc'ing crit if you build around it. (Grindstone, amulet)

the crit grindstone+fable+base 30 crit = 90%.

The crit potential is what truly makes this weapon shine. 30% of the time (60% with the fable art) you'll be dealing greatsword damage with dagger speed. But it on the wintry rapier handle and you can kill anything. Soloed Lorenzini Arcade with this only at +4.

This thing is a beast. Best dagger in the game by far, r1 combo is super fast, low energy consumption, spec into fable+elemental buff is crazy good with this. Carried my ass since I got it.
put the blade on the city long spear, use both their fable art buffs, use the crit grindstone + crit amulet + arm of god amulet and you have a ng+ shredder. massively braindead and I'm sure there's more damage buffs you could synergize with this setup
