Finding the Archbishop

The St. Frangelico Cathedral Library can be found down an elevator after progressing through the St. Frangelico Cathedral Chapel. At the bottom, alight the elevator and interact with the Stargazer just up ahead. Enter the doorway to the left. You'll find Cecile here and when you speak to her, she'll ask you to bring her the holy mark from the archbishop's quarters. Head back out to the Stargazer and loot the Thermite from a cubby to the right of it. The stairs here lead into some more acid that inflicts Decay. Ignore this pool for now and instead head through the archway ahead and to the left.

Turn left at the corner and hug the left wall. About three quarters through the hallway, you'll find a square pressure pad on the floor. If you step on it, you'll trigger a dart trap that fires 3 darts three times. Avoid the pressure pad and enter the next room. Defeat the two Carcasses here while avoiding the falling acid drops from above. You'll notice two holes in the floor - fall through them.

Inside the chest in this underground area is a Legion Caliber. Make your way into the middle of the room and you'll find a pink Dimensional Butterfly. This butterfly doesn't run away from you, but instead occasionally teleports to a different part of the room. Watch the glow of Monad's Lamp to figure out where the butterfly has teleported to. When defeated, it drops the Advance Crank. Head towards the end of the room, hugging either wall to avoid triggering the dart traps here. Behind the pillar, you'll find a Dim Ergo Fragment.

After you finish looting the area, head out the doorway on the other side of the room. You can interact with the writing on the floor to read what it says. Climb the ladder to the left and on your right will be some more writing. On the left, you'll find a Radiant Ergo Fragment and a locked gate you can interact with to return to the upper room.

Run to the other side of the room this time, being careful not to drop down any of the holes a second time. Defeat the Carcass at the base of the steps and loot the Attribute Resistance Ampoule to the left of the doorway. Head through the doorway and climb up the stairs. A Carcass will be waiting for you on your left when you emerge back from the hallway into the room. Defeat it and the Bloated Carcass on the bridge nearby. Past the bridge, you'll find a Fable Catalyst to the left. On the right, head down the stairs to find yourself in a new room.

You can read the text on the altar to the left when you enter. Up ahead past the altar is a Crescent Moonstone. Turn right and head towards the acid here that also inflicts Decay. Two Carcasses will pop up right before you enter the acid. Deal with them, then go through the doorway on the left.

When you enter this room, immediately go onto dry land to your left. Two more Carcasses will come running at you in this room. After defeating them, you can loot the Vivid Ergo Fragment from the right corner of the room. If your bar gets filled when you do this, remember that Decay can be cured using an Attribute Purification Ampoule. Afterwards, head to the left to find some stairs going upwards.

At the top of the stairs turn right, and as you emerge into the room ahead with a golden globe, an Elite Carcass will come rushing at you. Defeat it, and you'll have two paths ahead of you - one up a staircase to the right and another into an elevator at the far end of the room.

Start by heading into the elevator. At top, you'll find yourself on a large balcony. Ahead, you can speak to a treasure hunter who introduces himself as Alidoro the Hound. He's looking for other survivors of the Puppet Frenzy and Petrification Disease, and asks you if you know of a safe haven. You will then be put into a Lie System Scenario where you can tell him about Hotel Krat or Lie and direct him towards Venigni Works. If you tell him the truth, he'll be grateful and give you a Fire Abrasive. No matter your answer, Alidoro will start selling his wares to you. Hopefully you've been saving the Rare Ergo you've been getting from defeating Main Bosses, as you can trade them with Alidoro for Special Weapons or Amulets. After trading with him, head back down the elevator you came from.

When you exit the elevator, head up the staircase to the left. You'll find a Carcass at the top of the stairs and an item next to the base of another set of stairs. Pick up the Vivid Ergo Fragment and go up the next staircase. On the first archway to your right, you can destroy the crates in the way and drop down to pick up Gemini's Emergency Protection. Drop back down to the room with the golden globe and head back up the two staircases.

This time, go to the very end by the bookcases. Turn right and drop down onto the broken brick bridge under the archway. Cross the bridge to the other side and turn right to find the Archbishop's Diary. Head through the doorway between the two statues. Careful of the dripping acid on the left side of the room and defeat the Carcass here. On the ground to the left of the desk, you'll find the Archbishop's Holy Mark, the item that Cecile was asking for. The safe behind the desk contains the Workshop Union Strengthening Frame.

Head out the room and back onto the brick bridge. Turn right about halfway through the doorway. To the right, you'll find a Special Resistance Ampoule underneath an acid droplet. Go to the left of the doorway next, and knock down the brazier here to remove the acid downstairs. Keep following the balcony and turn left into a hole in the wall to grab a Fable Catalyst up ahead. You'll be able to see the Library Stargazer from here, but don't jump down yet - we'll be opening up a shortcut in a bit.

Return through the hole in the wall and go down the ladder. Interact with the chains next to the gate to open it, giving you a shortcut back to the Stargazer. You can take this opportunity to rest at the Stargazer to prepare for an upcoming boss, and to speak to Cecile. When you to the latter, you can hand over the Archbishop's Holy Mark, and Cecile will give you an Attribute Resistance Ampoule in return.

Head back through the shortcut gate. To the right of the gate is a Resplendent Ergo Fragment. Keep moving forward and head into the doorway to the right. You'll find a stone tablet you can read for some lore and a Crack's Calling by the wall to the left. When you're ready, interact with the double doors at the end to face a boss.

 

Boss: Fallen Archbishop Andreus

When you're first introduced to Fallen Archbishop Andreus, you'll find a slug-like monster with two arms. It will mainly perform a series of arm swipes, body slams, and tongue attacks. All of its attacks are telegraphed. The main issue some players may have for this boss is learning the timings on when its attacks will hit, as a few of them, the body slam and tongue attacks in particular, can be delayed.

After depleting its health completely, you'll view another cutscene, and the second phase of the boss will begin. The upper body of the Archbishop himself will emerge from the slug's back. The slug will retain the same moveset, but while the archbishop faces you, you'll have to deal with his moveset, which features very far reaching staff stabs and swipes.

When you've defeated the second phase of Fallen Archbishop Andreus, you'll witness a lengthy cutscene alluding to the main villain of the story. For defeating the previous archbishop, you'll be given the Twisted Angel's Ergo. Activate the new Stargazer that appears in the boss arena, the Archbishop's Altar Stargazer.

 

Finding Alidoro

After defeating Fallen Archbishop Andreus, Alidoro will move to the location you told him was a safe haven. If you Lied and directed him towards Venigni Works, you'll find him up the stairs from the Workshop Union Entrance Stargazer and in the room to the left, where you earlier fell through the hole to grab the Salamander Dagger. He'll be annoyed that you lied to him, but will give you another chance to tell him the truth. This will be another Lie System Scenario, where you can once again Lie to him and say Elysion Boulevard, or finally tell him the truth. 

Whether or not he's told the truth, Alidoro will show up at Hotel Krat next. He can be found in the west wing, in the room next to Antonia.

 

Speaking to Venigni

Besides Alidoro, Venigni also has something new to say after defeating the Archbishop. When you speak to him, he'll tell you that he's created a device that will help him record Ergo waves of the frenzied puppets. This device may help confirm his hypothesis that something in their Ergo is causing them to be aggressive. You'll receive the Ergo Wavelength Decoder after the conversation ends.

 

Leaving the Cathedral

When you've finished business at Hotel Krat, return to the Archbishop's Altar Stargazer. Go through the archway straight ahead and turn left in the large room to find an elevator. Alight the elevator at the bottom and pick up the Vivid Ergo Fragment at the other end of the room. Exit the building and head down the steps. When you cross through the gateway ahead, you'll find yourself at the Path of the Pilgrim.

 

Returning to Cecile

After some time has passed (possibly after completing Malum District), you can return to Cecile's spot next to the St. Frangelico Cathedral Library Stargazer. She's disappeared, and in her place you'll find Cecile's Written Confession, and the Divine Service Record. Read the confession, and you'll be given the Pray Gestures. This Gesture can be used in front of the Angel Statue outside the pathway Giangio is first met at the Path of Misery, where you picked up the Woman's Prayer. Doing so will increase P's humanity.
