Eldest of the Black Rabbit Brotherhood Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for Eldest of the Black Rabbit Brotherhood:

Once you enter the boss arena in the Malum District, you will face all four members of the Black Rabbit Brotherhood, but your main battle will be against the Eldest, which is the largest one of the group with a rabbit hood and gas mask. This battle can be approached by clearing his brothers and avoiding his attacks or by playing aggressively while focusing all your main attacks on the eldest since he is the only character you will need to clear. You can play this fight with a Specter to hold off or distract other members of the brotherhood so you can focus on your main target.

Start the battle by locking on him. Target most of your attacks against the Eldest with the large blade. He will have large attacks with his blade or cleaver that moves very quickly in combinations and back-to-back sequences, all while his brothers will continue to attack. His melee attacks have quite a bit of range, given how large the blade is. He will manically swing his blade in succeeding smashes and slashes, accompanied by strong jump attacks. His main swing attacks swing downwards directly in front of him but he has a sideways swing that moves radially and sweeps around him. If the others get in your way, react aggressively and clear them out of the way while creating some distance between you and the eldest so he doesn't knock you out.

Just before his downward swings, he usually pulls back his blade above him, giving you time to get out of the way. Since he commonly uses a lot of combos, make sure to wait for his attack to complete before directly approaching him head-on. You can use the time to also reposition to try to get behind him which will give you a good angle to attack. If you step further away, he will charge toward you allowing you to run and dodge to his side as he continues to charge. Begin to attack him when he is no longer facing you but watch out for his large 360 swings. You can also sometimes anticipate his forward attacks that usually follow his one stomp on the ground. Positioning is very important in this battle. Make sure you have plenty of charges and make sure they don't all back you up in one corner. Keep moving throughout the battle to avoid any sneaky attacks from other members and focus on your angles as you approach. He can also be staggered when his boss bar is highlighted in white. Perform a charge attack or play aggressively during this period to stagger him and open up the opportunity for more damage. As his HP bar dwindles, begin to focus all your attacks on the elder to deplete his HP and complete the boss fight.

Eldest of the Black Rabbit Brotherhood Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
Downward Swing The Eldest swings and smashes his cleaver to the ground. This can be performed in a melee combo or back-to-back in a combo of three swing attacks Block these attacks. Remain on guard for any follow-up attacks in the combo. Watch for when he pulled back his blade above his head to anticipate these attacks
Sideways Swings The Eldest swings his cleaver swiftly from one side to another. These could swing almost to 360 around him and he can perform a very quick 3-swing combo with this attack making it difficult to avoid further damage once hit.  Back away in case more swings like this are dealt.
Uppercut Swing His cleaver is used to swing from bottom to up and has the ability to knock you over. You can attempt to block or reposition as this action is dealt so you can follow up with some attacks.
Spin Attack This can be dealt as a part of the uppercut in a combo, creating a charged attack that will knock you down. He swings his cleaver 360 and follows through with an uppercut swing.  These are powerful attacks that might require you to back up from the range of this attack
Jump Attack The Eldest leaps and lands with his cleaver, creating a very damaging landing. Since the action of this attack is obvious, immediately dodge away from his landing area once he jumps.
Charge Attack Usually done when you're at a distance away. He will run at you and follow up with a powerful melee attack.  This is a directional attack where he follows through with the run. Step out of the way of the charge and try to get behind him to continue attacking.

i think this is an imitation of O&S but with some sort of creativity. 1 big guy with huge hp and big weapon and another agile dude who wants to ruin your fight. the difference here is that instead of 1 agile dude we have 3 separate. they did a good job imo making the big guy passive while his brothers are in the fight. for beating it just break the big guy's weapon and he is as ez as a cake. it take around 14 parries to break it. after that the fight is insanely easier and u can beat them no problems.

        Bullshit boss.
He can spam a non stopping flurry of rotational attacks leaving nothing but depleted health before launching an unblocking strike.
But the worse are maybe his charges when another rabbit helps him. It's not always easy charge to avoids. Sometimes you end on the crossfire of both foes with no way to protect yourself. Hell, O&S you had pillars to help you manage this phase.
Really a pain in the a**. Eventually made it by starting with a rapier against the eldest before switching to the trident and launching thermite at the eldest while the last brother is there (dunno really how to deal with him honnestly).
Glad it's over and it was a very frustrating boss.

This was a fun fight, by far not the hardest though. Archbishop gave me more trouble. The big guy is pretty easy to perfect block and he hardly attacks when a sibling enters the arena allowing the player to focus on the sibling. This was the fight that made me learn block timing though as just trying to dodge wasn't getting it done

Pretty sure the youngest girl has a crush on our boy. "He's a looker", she said at some point when he visits Malum District. Her brothers have comments too. Not sure where to put them though, considering such dialogues are pretty good NPC character writing.

It would've been cool if you only fought the Eldest. Then later the surviving members of the Brotherhood send you a note that says "We know"

              • Anonymous

The parry is easy but his sword is hard to break. I recommend going with a hilt that has the counter for a successful perfect block (I forget what that particular art is called). That's what I did. When his siblings come in, the big brother's walking speed slows to a crawl and he is easy to get away from, making it easy to manage. Just run to the end of the area, fight the sibling, and listen for the big brother's grunt. It's the audio cue that he's doing his running attack.

When the little siblings are gone, continue parrying and killing the big guy that way. When the final sibling spawned for me, the big brother only had a little bit of health, so I started using my legion arm. I had it equipped with the grapple and chipped his final bit of health away using that, ignoring and dodging the sibling. I imagine the megaman cannon arm, whatever it's called, is also effective for that final 3rd of his health as well.

Every souls-like has its cheap O&S imitation...

Jokes-aside I thought this was pretty fun! I found it was easy to kite out the additional siblings and get in 1-2 hits at a time after spacing out their long attacks and focus on dodging when you hear the big guy making Vader noises. Additionally you can punish the adds super hard via backstab which can get you back to a 1v1 with Mr. Piggy pretty quickly. I ended up breaking his weapon with perfect parries so I also ended up not being punished that hard by the end of it for messing up. Good luck y'all you can do this, just remember your fundies :)

Can you get this guy's weapon? I didn't get a boss ergo... kinda miffed I really wanted that sword. The back handed grip.... too cool

One of the better group bosses i have fought. Feels kinda unfair when theres three of them though, but idk if thats supposed to happen, since it only happened once.

I'm on my first playthrough and killed only him, what happens if you kill the others, does the cutsene change?

Just solo'd him with this strategy

                          1. parry until weapon break
                          2. Attack
                          3. Kill Add
                          3. Attack
                          4. Kill Add
                          5. Attack
                          6. Kill Add

Finished. His timing is a lot easier to nail with a high refresh rate monitor in my opinion but very doable without. I did it solo and without throwables.

Passar dessa luta sem utilizar Arremessáveis, Espectro e focando no Bloqueio Perfeito é um mérito altamente satisfatório, chefe muito divertido com uma ambientação e trilha sonora muito bem desenvolvida

This is a fundamentals check. What seems like an annoying fight at first quickly becomes one of the easier boss battles of the game so far. Trying to be smart and counterbuild/counterplay the big guy doesn't really work because his attacks aren't really slow enough for a fast weapon to exploit, and his weapon takes too many perfect guards to break. Dodge and block the big guy's attacks, burst down the little guys.

I used the Bone-Cutting Sawblade on the Booster Glaive Handle for my weapon.

The big guy's attacks are very easy to perfect guard or dodge away from, and he seems to become more passive when there's a little guy present. The running attack he often uses while you're focusing on a brother is easily avoided by dodging to the side.

The little guys have very low poise and are obsessed with running at you, so you can bait them forward by running away and then quickly turn and hit them with a dash attack which will deal decent damage and interrupt their attack very reliably. And a well timed LB+Y with the glaive handle fable art while they're charging at you absolutely chunks them.

Basically just treat every enemy in this boss battle as though it were a normal enemy out in the game world. Treat the small guys like regular small guys (overpower them, break their low poise) and treat the big guy like regular big guys (be patient, block/dodge, punish after combos).

Took a long time to beat because of the goons, but I eventually got him, and in the best way. I defeated the siblings and when it was a 1v1 again, I parried him so much that his weapon broke in half, it really felt like I humiliated him lol. Total victory. puppet string can be hany to pull the goons toward you. If he does that one red attack where he sweeps horizontaly, a way to attempt dodging it is to try to get behind him, you could also attempt the parry, but that one specifically felt very tough to parry correctly, only got it a couple times

                                • Anonymous

Without a specter, this one takes a lot of patience and is a bit of a marathon. But if you’re patient, it’s not so hard to no-hit the Eldest itself.

When he does either his final overhead swing or a red attack, just charge R2 with Trident and dodge *backwards*. Keep distance, rinse and repeat.

The minions are easiest to kill if you can bait a backstab (esp. the spear guy, whose jump attack leaves him vulnerable).

Of course, if you can equip 5–15 throwables you can take him out with those alone once the minions are gone.

                                  • Anonymous

Tried Aegis, tried the Puppet String, neither really worked for me. BUT what did work was breaking his weapon with perfect parries.

Given his repeated rapid strikes it was surprisingly easy to do if you get the timing right. Especially if you can chain block his spinning attack a few times and his building/rapid strike attack. Once his weapon was broken his hits went from debilitating to manageable and you can pick off his siblings one at a time without fear of his huge cleaver coming out of nowhere and blowing up huge chunks of your health.

                                    • Anonymous

This was my first real obstacle, so I had a lot of practice against this boss and figured out some strategies. I noticed his overhead attacks are the easiest to punish. You can tell he is doing one when he holds his sword in both hands. He does one attack that strikes 4 times in a row, just dodge behind him every swing, but don't get too close as the sword has a hotbox behind him.

The first girl to spawn has low poise, so use heavy attacks to poise break her on every attack. I was using a dagger, so I had fast charged heavy attacks, but I noticed if I got her up against a wall to where she couldn't jump backwards, I could easily stun lock her with charged heavies.

Second guy to spawn also has low poise, and does mostly pierce attacks that can be dodged to the side. Again, use heavy attacks to poise break. Another thing I figured out is to just lock on and walk backwards. Soon as he starts chasing after you, charge up Fulminis, and when he's in range, shoot him to poise break. Start walking backwards again, rinse and repeat.

Haven't figured out a solid strategy against the third guy yet. Just get good I suppose

Not too difficult with an Aegis. Stay at range and just shieldbomb the hell out of Elder when he dashes towards you. Took me two tries.

This fight should of had the two people who follow you through the level join this fight. If you remove one member of the black rabit brotherhood you could have had an epic 3 v 3 boss fight.

                                          • Anonymous

There're a lot of comments with tips or helps, so here's a summary:
Use Puppet String, you can easily pull the others with it in case they are off range.
Use fire damage to either eliminate the brothers or the main boss asap.
DO NOT SUMMON SPECTER; this causes the main one to go full berserk causing more problems than if you were solo fighting.
For solo fight: everytime one brother of his come arround, focus on getting him/her first, when you focus the siblings causes the big one just walk arround and occasionally charges against you. You can easily dodge the charge and once you dodge it, keep focusing the sibling.

                                            • Anonymous

Highly recommend to use the puppet string for this fight. When the other members spawn in they will often dodge back and prevent you from doing a lot of damage to them after you've blocked/parried their attack strings. Puppet string allows you to pull them right back in after they've dodged away and do HUGE damage to them.

                                              • Anonymous

I recommend running around. The big dude only sprints at you for certain attacks, he likes to slow walk plenty. When his help arrives, you can remove your lock, and run and roll as needed to the other side of the map. The first back up is so fast and loves dashing at you. You can solo him for a while. The big guy will catch up after maybe 4? strikes? not that long but it can be a good opening. Dash again to the other side then solo the back up for a bit. If the big guy responds by running at you, he is going to hit, Block/dodge it and run to another side since its back to two on one. Thats bad luck, but usually, he will choose to slow walk. If you focus the big guy to kill him, not just break his sword, more help will arrive at certain thresholds, eventually you will deal with all 4 of them. Its quite chaotic.

                                                • Do not summon!!! I posted this on the wrong page before so im copying it over here: For some reason when you summon the specter, the aggro for the big guy goes crazy when his siblings come into the fight. Go into the fight solo and dont damage the big brother. Just keep deflecting until his cleaver is destroyed. That removes a lot of his damage and relieves the most of the tension from the fight. When his siblings come into the fight, as long as you didnt summon a specter, the big bro will wait around in the back but occasionally try to do a charge attack. Simply dodge the charge and keep focus on the siblings, he'll back off for a bit again, rinse and repeat. Try using electric and fire abrasives for the siblings to kill them as fast as possible. I found that having good spacing removes the need to deflect and learn their attacks. I actually rather like this fight, but only when I do it solo, as the lessened aggro from big bro makes it much more clean and less like a typical gank boss. Hope this helped. Good hunting.

                                                  • When I learned there was a gank boss fight, I though this was just the traditional trash mob that you can tale in 2 swings... But sadly, no...

This would be fun if you got to fight these 1v1 in turn, but here you just end up having two at once... with no breathing room whatsoever...

                                                    • Anonymous

Here's a warning: You get a rematch with this guy in the future.

If you break his weapon here, his sword stays stubby for that fight. Consider it an investment - since even with a broken weapon, he still managed to kill me a couple of times.

                                                      • Anonymous

Out of all "souls-like" gank bosses, this one felt far from being the worst. Orn and Smo were good, but Fromsoft didnt seem to figure out how to recreate that seeing as the rest of their gank bosses just felt numbers flailing around until they finally hit you. Well played Lies of P.

Cheesed him accidentally after my back was against the door to the building with the double doors where the exit will be after the fight. He swiped into me but his AI broke after he landed on the steps, like he was in some sort of permanent "leashing" mode.

Id have to say this boss is the deference maker between a good player and a bad player for this game, the siblings are annoying, yes, but they are also (just like teh main boss) extremally readable, cheeseable, (and the sister is bree-). They only start coming in after the eldest looses about 20% of his hp (still not sure if its a timer as i killed one without damaging the boss and another one appeared). All of them are faster than the boss so running from side to side of the stage works well (and it gives you the room to) as well as the boss giving a clear noise that he is about to charge which he only does about every 15 secconds, you can just kinda run around the charge, another thing to mention is that all the nonboss siblings can be staggered however they will jump away if given the chance. The sister is the most annoying but also the easiest to deal with as she back away with each hit and then charges at you, so just back step and your fine most of the time. The bucket head is pretty much just a spicier version of a regular spear enemy so just block his attacks and you can get your hp back in one or two swings, however when he jumps he will appear behind you so thats a free hit pretty much, id say hes the easiest. The leader isss gimmicky your gonna have to find out a strat that works for you

                                                            • Anonymous

Fight this guy solo. You'll really want to learn his parry timings so you can break his weapon. The spectre ruins his patterns and highlights some of his janky hitboxes.

A good idea is to just parry for a while without hitting him. Once his weapon is broken his damage will be pitiful and you can go on the offensive. You wont have to worry about him so much, even when the others join the battle.

Try to learn the parry timing for big guy, once his sword break his damage are weak. All the others siblings are backstables, some have big opening to do it.

You can pretty much cheese this boss if you bring a lot of throwable stuff and summon. The summon keeps most of the aggro while you deal a lot of damage from afar. 5 thermite + 5 corpse jar + 3 sawblades should be enough to take most of his health. The NPC on red lobster inn sell consumables without limit.

Don't use the summon for this fight. If you go in solo the big guy goes mostly passive when another sibling enters. The siblings seem to tag in at damage intervals on the big guy. While a sibling is in, don't engage the big guy until you've taken out the sibling. He'll mostly be passive aside from the occasional wild lunge, so you can pretty much ignore him as long as you keep some distance from him. Follow that and the fight is a much more manageable sequence of 1 v 1s.

The other 3 are extremely annoying, they do barely any damage themselves but are all massive health sponges and constantly run away from you, which makes the fight drag on forever.

If this was just a 1V1 with the eldest I would've enjoyed the fight a lot more.
