Black Cat (Boss) is a Boss in Lies of P. Black Cat (Boss) is one of the Stalkers seen throughout the game in various locations with Red Fox, his sister, as a generally amicable NPC, but players will have the option to fight him. When he requests for a Gold Coin Fruit, you can give it to him or refuse to initiate the battle. He wields a City Longspear in battle. Eliminating Bosses will usually cause them to drop rare Ergo. The Ergo you obtain by defeating a boss is extremely valuable. Players will eventually be able to use these to exchange them for special Weapons and Amulets. See the Black Cat NPC page for additional NPC and quest information. Note that fighting the Black Cat for his Black Cat's Mask is not mandatory.

Where to Find Black Cat Boss in Lies of P
He is first encountered as an NPC with Red Fox at the Workshop Union Culvert. Once you progress to the final chapter of the game in Arche Abbey, Black Cat can be fought as a boss at the Arche Abbey Outer Wall.

Give Black Cat Gold Coin Fruit or Do not Give.
This Boss fight is completely avoidable by choosing to give Black Cat some Gold Coin Fruit. If you do not give him the Gold Coin Fruit, he will initiate a boss battle.
Black Cat wields a City Longspear used to extend the range of his regular melee attacks. Wield a long weapon yourself if you have a good one. With his spear, he will commonly thrust and lunge forward and deal a number of striking attacks. The majority of his attacks will be a combination of back-to-back thrusting, poking, and stabbing, so you will be able to sidestep or dodge out of the way. There will be a slight indication of an incoming attack which will also allow you to block in time once you see his arm pull back in preparation to thrust his spear forward or dodge.
The Black Cat will also dodge side to side throughout the fight, which might be difficult for you to get a better angle on him. However, he tends to pause in between attacks which could give you a chance to charge your attack and release once he comes in range. If you land a good heavy attack, you'll be able to stagger him or knock him over, opening up the chance to follow with a Fatal attack. In between his standard melee attacks, use your short attacks as well while waiting for a window to deal a charged attack. Your bigger attacks will give you a chance to interrupt his next action, allowing you to continue attacking.
Be patient with your charged attacks which will take out a chunk of his health. Continue allowing his attack combos to complete and counter them as they come so that you can follow with your own attacks until the fight is cleared.

AnonymousI found out that if you don’t give him a gold coin fruit at the end of the grand exhibition, you don’t even get the option to give him one when you meet him in the Arche Abbey, he just initiates the fight when you walk up to him. Another thing I noticed is that you can just run right on past him in the middle of the fight and skip him entirely

There's no achievement for killing him, and you get his mask anyway by bypassing the fight by giving him some Gold Coin Fruit. In other words, you can skip this if you want to, unless you really want to fight him.

Alright I'm gonna be the first one to comment this, I'd smash
I gave them a coin gold fruit at the great grand exhibition and he just started instantly fighting me later on I'm not sure its because I have low humanity (2nd play through going to get the break free from strings ending) or because I was wearing his mask from my first playthrough anyone have any idea what's going on?
