Mad Donkey is a Boss in Lies of P. The Mad Donkey is a Boss in a humanoid form with a Donkey mask, giving it its name. He wields a long Great Saw, used for hunting. He appears to hold a grudge against all puppets and their puppet maker and his thirst for truth brings out his violent and stubborn nature in spite of all the dangers he faces. Eliminating Bosses will usually cause them to drop rare Ergo. The Ergo you obtain by defeating a boss is extremely valuable. Players will eventually be able to use these to exchange them for special Weapons and Amulets.

 

The madman who was now terminally ill no longer feared puppets or the Petrification Disease. He simply wanted to know the truth, the reason for his colleagues' bloodshed.

Where to Find Mad Donkey Boss in Lies of P

Located on the Alchemist Bridge on the way to the Krat City Hall. He will be yelling into a carriage when you encounter him. The closest Stargazer before this encounter will be the one located Inside the House on Elysion Boulevard

Mad Donkey Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for Mad Donkey:

 

The Mad Donkey is one of the early game Boss encounters, so you will have to make do with your available equipment. If you encounter and defeat the elite enemy, the Krat Police Puppet on the way to the bridge you can wield his Police Baton for this fight. You can also go with any of your previously obtained weapons. 

Once you approach, lock on your target first. You can wait for the scene to play out or charge behind him to get an advantage. You will be able to attack him from behind before he moves. Play aggressive at the start and you can even knock him over. The Mad Donkey's attacks consist of large movements and a combination of melee attacks with his long Great Saw which means you can prepare to parry as soon you see him draw back his weapon. If you successfully parry him, you have a chance to break his weapon, shortening the range of his attacks. He usually attacks forward so as long as you keep dodging to the side, you will be able to avoid taking damage from most of his attacks. 

His attack sets are also usually followed by an opening that allows you to reposition behind him to get a few good hits before he turns toward you and begins attacking again. If you keep at a distance he will roll forward and follow that roll with another melee attack.

Continue to circle around him in between attacks to attack him from behind and eventually, you can deal a successful backstab, which will deal a lot of damage and knock him over, allowing you to continue to attack him. Keep a steady pattern of dodging his melee attacks while repositioning around him to attack him until his HP bar is depleted. 

 

Mad Donkey Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
Melee Slash The Mad Donkey runs at you and swings his blade down forward. Sidestep or dodge to either side to avoid impact. Quickly follow up with an attack. You can also parry this attack 
Melee Swing This attack takes up the most area as he swings his weapon in an arc in front of him.  You will need to quickly back step away 
Melee Uppercut Another swinging move, but with the blade swinging upward at a diagonal angle.  Dodge backs away from him as he pulls back his blade. 
Melee Combo A combination of up to three different melee slashes and swings back to back while advancing. You will need to continue to back up away while he continues to advance.  
Fury Attack When enemies become red, they can use a Fury attack that can't be dodged. The Mad Donkey can perform a Fury Attack melee combo.  The only way to counter these attacks would be to keep a distance or to counter with a Perfect Guard.

  • Players can cheese this encounter by sparing the Krat Police Puppet encountered earlier in the map. Lead the Mad Donkey back to the Krat Police puppet and they will proceed to fight each other to the death and you can pick the survivor off and finish the rest.
